Leaving Joburg Behind
By the end of June, and with the completion of the Beast's conversion having severely delayed us, we were finally able to start packing all that we had bought in the previous months. This proved to be impossible undertaking, one that I doubt even Hercules could have completed successfully had they been one of his 12 Labours. As a result of the abandoning of my extensive lists, we had ended up buying so much stuff that a large portion of it had to be left behind.
A week or so later, we had managed to pack all of our supplies into the Beast, as well as to box and package the rest of our household belongings into storage. A few goodbye parties later we had left Joburg behind us, Willie Nelson’s "On the road again" blaring through the iPod as we made our way down to Natal for a few test runs and time to reorganise the back of the vehicle.
