Sun City 400 this weekend

Submitted by Ruff on Fri, 25/07/2008 - 12:26.

The Sun City 400, the 5th round of the Absa Off Road Championship takes place this weekend at the Pilanesberg.

Toyota Motorsport manager, William Hadda had this to say of the event:

“The Sun City 400 is never an easy race”It is tough on the crews and the vehicles but recent results have lifted the confidence of the entire team. We also have a slight lead in the manufacturer’s championship so there is plenty of incentive for the factory crews and privateers to do well.”

Mark Cronje/Chris Birkin and Anthony Taylor/Robin Houghton (SP class) have finished in the points on two events in a row at the recent Toyota Kalahari Botswana Desert 1000 race.

Taylor: "I had a bit of an iffy start on the Sugarbelt 400, but things are falling into place. I am enjoying the challenge and having someone as experienced as Robin in the vehicle has been a huge help. I am looking forward to Sun City and hopefully we can come up with another good result."

Cronje: "The win on the Eastern Cape 500 and good results for both teams in Botswana has left no doubt we are ultra competitive. Now we have to keep it all together and put pressure on the opposition. Sun City is always a difficult proposition but it's about time we came up with another win."

You can catch the event highlights on Supersport from next week.
